Western Colorado Chorale
The Western Colorado Chorale is a musical group based in Grand Junction, Colorado. I was approached and asked to design the materials for their 36th concert season, “Horizons.”
One of the main concerns of the client was creating a more simplified and modern aesthetic, but other than this I was given complete conceptual freedom. Several concepts were created focusing on the idea of sound waves creating horizons. The final aesthetic was to mask images into the shape of sound waves to visualize the idea that each concert (Verdant, Crystalline, and Radiant) was evoking imagery through music.
For this project I designed all major season materials: three posters, a ticket brochure, a promotional letter, and the season’s music program. To be consistent I chose four major photos to represent aspects of the concert season. One picture to represent the concert season as a whole, and one for Verdant, Crystalline, and Radiant. These pictures were also picked showing different times of day. Part of the program’s concept was to go through the cycle of day and night as the program progressed which the photos represent.
